The 5,000th LDP machine
We were delighted to welcome VolkerGround Engineering from the UK to our head office.
Brandon Ferreira (director), Rob Howarth (construction manager) and Mark Curtis (site supervisor) joined the team in Italy to celebrate a milestone for Soilmec: the production of our 5,000th large diameter piles (LDP) machine. Francesco Bassi, Europe sales director of Soilmec, and Mark Nelson, Soilmec Ltd (UK) director, commented: “We are thrilled to be handing over the keys of the SR-95, serial number 5,000, to VolkerGround Engineering at the handover ceremony held at our factory in Cesena. Soilmec and its sister company, Soilmec UK, are delighted with this sale. It sees another multifunctional rig entering the UK market to enrich our existing fleet to help deliver many successful projects in the near future”.

The SR-95 HIT has been designed following the concept of the High Technology line: the multi-functionality.
The rig has been designed for bored piles and CFA; it can be easily converted to perform Cased Secant Piles, Displacement Piles and Soil Mixing with the Turbojet® technology.
With an operating weight of around 95 tons, the SR-95 HIT in LDP version can drill up to a depth of 106.5m with friction kelly bar and 70m with locking kelly bar. The rig can be fitted with a maximum diameter of 1,900 (winch crowd system) or 2,100 (cylinder crowd system) millimeters along mast and 3,000mm with tool below mast. Moreover, it can be fitted with a special kit that allows to install 21.5m telescopic bar in order to extend the maximum depth of the kelly locking type to over 100m. The SR-95 HIT in CFA version can be set up using a quick conversion kit, combined line pull type, or using a transformation kit with 4° line pull cathead.
The rig can be equipped with a 20m long auger string set in quick conversion and 24m in 4° line pull version.
Furthermore, for this version, a mast extension kit has been developed to mount 26m long auger string. In order to catch the maximum depth on the top of the auger string it is possible to install an auger extension: Soilmec can supply it with 3, 6 or 8.5m length, to perform piles up to 34.5m depth using a star type auger cleaner. The SR-95 HIT can be fitted with an auger with a maximum diameter of 1,200mm.
