Cementation Skanska’s two new Soilmec SR-75 piling rigs have been named Big Bryn and Bauma, after a competition on Twitter.
A shortlist of four pairs of names was drawn up following suggestions from employees, and the most popular was chosen by a vote. The names relate to the debut of the rigs, at the Bryn Cowlyd Water Treatment Works in Wales and the Bauma trade fair held in Munich during 2016.
Cameron Foley, Managing Director of Cementation, said: “We’re proud of our new SR-75 rigs. We’re investing to make sure we’ve got the right equipment for the work we undertake, and we’ll continue to invest and look at new plant and equipment in the future.”
Plant and Fabrication Director Steve Joynson added: “One of the key reasons for buying this equipment is flexibility. With built-in reliability and operator comfort and all the new safety features, it’s the perfect machine for our flexible fleet.”
