Soilmec’s New Product Line Makes North American Debut at CONEXPO

Houston, TX – Hundreds of people visited the Soilmec booth at CONEXPO in Las Vegas, Nevada (March 8 - 4, 2014) to check out three new drilling rigs equipped with Tier 4 engines – and to partake of the renowned Italian hospitality!

Models include the new SR-45 and SR-75 for large diameter piling, and the new SM-17 for microdrilling and anchoring. The SR-45 and SR-75, both hydraulic drilling rigs, are designed for large diameter drilling of cased or uncased bore piles, continuous flight auger piles, cased augered piles, displacement piles, and Turbojet® piles.

Of particular interest to CONEXPO visitors was the integrated re-design of the mast, rotary, Kelly, and parallelogram on the SR-45 and SR-75. This new design optimizes the forward weight balance of the machine, resulting in enhanced stability, greater crowd and extraction force, and increased depth capability.

With a low-headroom mast, the SR-75 is also suitable for low headroom drilling. The SR-45 has bottom feed system technology for drilling in areas that are seismically active or have unstable ground conditions.

The SM-17 is a multipurpose drilling rig engineered to execute micropiles, tie-backs, anchors, jet grouting and mini-piles. Visitors at CONEXPO expressed great interest in the SM-17’s double-rotary, which allows casing and the drill string to be advanced independently. Soilmec agents took orders for several SM-17s at the show.

To increase productivity, the Soilmec line of Tier 4 rigs includes to CATERPILLAR engines coupled with Rex-Roth hydraulics to deliver more power and reliability. Additionally, re-designed rotaries offer increased torque, more pull-up capability, and improved turrets for better rotation and pile positioning.

CONEXPO is held every three years. Soilmec enjoys sharing its technology and products with its customers and friends. Between now and 2017, Soilmec will be exhibiting at the ADSC Equipment Expo (March 2015, San Antonio, Texas), Intermat (April 2015, Paris, France), and Bauma (April 2016, Munich, Germany), among other world events.
