Soilmec new generation rigs at work on the banks of the Thames

Two new generation Soilmec rigs, an SR-90 and an SR-75, are currently working on an important urban renewal project in the prestigious district of Chelsea, London.

The project involves the redevelopment of a large site close to the Thames where new residential and commercial properties with underground parking over two levels will be built.

The foundations consist of a diaphragm wall along the outer boundary of the whole area, constructed with bored secant piles. More specifically, there will be 1,565 piles with diameters of 620,750, 900 and 1,200 mm at a depth of 15 - 20 metres. A number of 1,500 mm diameter piles will be installed at a depth of 40 metres under the most important buildings.
